Is this practical? Presumably, I'd have to make a copy each time I swap, or things would get confusing. ”Forgive my ignorance but, being nervous of leaving stuff out, could I just copy the whole EverQuest folder? So much has changed since I began playing, that a lot of it has passed me by, because I've been too busy just playing! I'd like to occasionally swap between my main EQ machine, which is the Boot Camp partition of an iMac (!), and a Dell laptop, and would like to carry on from where I left off each time. At least you don't have to do hotbuttons and socials all over again. If the PCs have different resolutions, not quite sure of the outcome of the UI layout. If it is marked as 'Read-Only' it will not save your UI settings. Note this worked with both PCs running 1080p graphics. It’s pretty annoying having to reorganize all my chat windows and such every time I play, can anyone think of what may be causing this So, go into your games program file pathway and make sure the overall EQ folder is unchecked from 'Read-Only'. You basically get an identical version of EQ on the second computer. However, if you have custom channels (including level chat channels) and are not eligible to have those with your new toon (example your toon is level 70 and has level 70 chat, and your alt is level 30) you will notice that the chat box is invis until you use the / command to start typing then all is good. Copy from my original folder onto the new computer. More so, the easiest/quickest way for me is delete the maps, UI, userdata folders, and the 3 files mentioned above in the main EQ folder. Now did i copy default? nope, never ever ever.↑ “ This is the correct answer. Once your character has entered the world, camp to desktop, and log back in to see if the problem is resolved. The process will take a couple of minutes. Then in eq you just do /loadskin, and select your custom ui, andboom done. From the character selection screen, select the character thats experiencing UI problems, then, at the bottom of the same view, check the ' Reset UI to Default ' and enter the world. Put those 3 fils in there, nothing more, nothign less.īe aware those 3 custom interface pieces might come with their own graphics and such, those must ofcause also be copied into the customui folder. ![]() you make a folder name it what you like, CustomUI is good. Lets say you downlaod a nice bag and hotbar and party window. If you copy default into the custom, it will never go load any default properfilesīut it will load it entirely from your custom folder, and that custom folder might have files that are very much different frmo the default file, and thus you broken the ui, and makes eq say aight we got bad things here, lets forget bout custom and go load default. It will either break your custom or just cause issues that will make eq return to default.Įq is smart enough to load any file it needs from default if it is not found in the custom folder. Never copy default ever into a custom ui. I am not running any 3rd party software like isoboxer or wineq. Only the initial switch to custom ui seems to work for me, and now some of my friends. The second way to overcome this is to reinstall everquest and start from scratch. If it doesn't log into it then it will not load. Basically the files that say I have a custom ui to log into. So what I do is update the custom when it is out and restore my ui and layout files that are in the everquest folder. Chances are everquest will force me back to default until then. ![]() I'm already using some of your 'Large' windows through the DarqUI client and was wondering what the current status is on the windows that are not being offered at the moment. When an update to everquest's UI is about to happen I back up my custom and update it when it is available. I've recently started playing EQ2 on a 4K TV and I'm currently sticking with the 1920x1080 resolution because of the known UI scaling issues. This has happened on more than one computer for me over the last few months. Somewhat newish and way overkill computer for everquest. The computer hangs for a while like it is thinking about then just.nope back to default. There is no error in the log it just will not load. When I/we go to reload a UI everquest will not let us. At that point it wasn't quite worth mentioning, until I heard it happens to friends also. I have done this a couple times and I figured it was just something I was doing and didn't apply to anyone else.
